Cardboard tables for Studio Bureau

Studio Bureau, a creative agency focusing on visual design and communication, faced a challenge: developing tables for the Future Campus exhibition during Education Days 2024. Commissioned by SURF, an organization that promotes innovation in education, they wanted to create tables from cardboard instead of wood, to save costs while also creating a more manageable product. This idea perfectly aligns with their mission to develop powerful, sustainable, and creative concepts.

Custom Cardboard Tables

The tables had to both aesthetically fit the exhibition and be functional for a special interactive experience. Visitors could use AR technology via a QR code on the tables to see a 3D figure that guided them through the future of education. The tables themselves had to be sturdy enough to bear the weight of using the technology, and the design also had to offer possibilities for branding with custom prints.

After consulting with Studio Bureau, we custom-produced the tables using re-board cardboard, a lightweight yet sturdy material choice. Thanks to a clever addition of a triangular reinforcement in the middle, the tables gained extra stability. This system provided the perfect solution for the need for a stronger construction without sacrificing the light, durable character of cardboard.
