Paper Balls Waste Bin for Decathlon
Decathlon is working hard to make its store and supply chain more sustainable. They also wanted to extend this sustainability approach to the individual. Therefore, the sustainability leader at Decathlon Rotterdam came up with the idea of a "paper waste bin." With this paper waste bin, he wanted to ensure that the paper balls used in new shoes didn't end up on the floor of the Decathlon store. To make this more appealing, we installed a basketball waste bin. We adapted its design and dimensions so it perfectly fits Decathlon and the store.
The Decathlon Alexandrium in Rotterdam was the first to test this idea, and with great success!
Jessica Vermeulen, Decathlon: " As sustainability leader for Decathlon Rotterdam, I wanted to involve customers in the sustainability of our stores and encourage them to consider the impact they can make as individuals. That's why I came up with the Kartent design, which encourages customers to separate waste in a playful way. Kartent's idea of doing something good for the planet in this way aligns with the vision we always strive to achieve."
