We love a challenge. So when we were asked to create a scale replica of a Porsche 911 out of cardboard, we knew immediately: this is what we want to do! The end result? A detailed, lifelike Porsche, constructed from over 1,000 layers of cardboard, designed and manufactured in our own warehouse.

From idea to reality

Because how do you stand out among 70,000 new products at the largest toy fair in the world?

To showcase The Diecast Company's impressive collection of model cars, we created hexagonal walls that stylishly showcased the various scale models and brands. This playful, modular design gave the booth a dynamic and organized look. However, we also needed to create a truly eye-catching piece.

The process began with a meticulous digital drawing, incorporating all the contours and details of the iconic sports car. Then, we cut the Porsche from cardboard, layer by layer, and carefully glued them together. This required exceptional precision and patience, as creating a flowing form required perfect alignment of the layers.

After hours of cutting, stacking, and gluing, the Porsche slowly began to come to life. The characteristic round headlights, the car's lines, and even the iconic hood—everything was recreated as accurately as possible!

On the way to Germany

Once the cardboard Porsche was finished, it was off to the Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg, the international toy and model making fair. There, it stole the show at The Diecast Company's booth. Among thousands of miniature cars, our full-size cardboard creation immediately stood out!

New destination: Alkmaar!

After a successful run at the German trade fair, the Porsche is now back in the Netherlands and is on display in Alkmaar at Tom's Model Auto's. Who knows, you might even see it driving by! ;)
